Halfords plans to open up to 12 new stores in Northern Ireland following a letting on Marlborough retail park in Craigavon.

The new 700 sq m store will trade alongside B&Q and McDonald’s. It will include a Bike Hut mezzanine level.

A 20-year lease has been agreed with landlord JH Turkington at an initial rent of£130 per sq m and tenant’s break options in years 11 and 16.

The store is Halfords’ fourth in the province, and the second for its new ‘Arcade’ format. According to regional property manager Mike Hill, it will be the platform for further growth. ‘Having traded successfully in Northern Ireland since 1997, we have an initial priority for at least five more units with a strategy to take up to 12,’ he said.
