Pureplay grocer Ocado has cut the prices on over 100 everyday essential items by up to 25% across a range of own-brand and Marks & Spencer items.

The retailer has reduced prices across the 100 products by an average of 10%, with the latest investment to sit alongside its Ocado Price Promise – which launched earlier this year and compares prices against over 10,000 like-for-like products with Tesco.

Ocado said customers can also choose from a range of 700 Ocado own-label grocery lines, alongside its extensive collection in the Everyday Savers range.

The retailer said it had unveiled its latest investment due to “food inflation [being] at record levels and household budgets squeezed as a result”.

Ocado said products such as Lurpak Garlic Butter dropped 25%, Ocado grated parmesan was down 16% and seeded rolls were down 17%.

It also said it currently had the lowest milk price on the market – with four pints of own-brand milk costing £1.45.

Ocado Retail chief executive Hannah Gibson said: “At Ocado, customers are at the heart of everything we do and we want to give them great value on the products that matter to them the most, whether that’s large brands, Ocado own-brand or M&S. Together with the Ocado Price Promise, cutting the prices of these 100 essentials means we’re even better value, alongside the service, range and quality which our customers love”.
