Asda has a ‘strong pipeline’ of further Express openings in 2026

New stores in London include Tower Bridge and another in the former Arsenal club shop in Finsbury Park.

The retailer said the openings reflect its “ambition to strengthen its presence in high-footfall urban areas, residential neighbourhoods, and transport hubs – locations where the retailer has traditionally had a limited presence”.

Other new London locations include Greenwich, Limehouse, Harringay, Deptford and Whetstone.

Outside of London, the retailer will also be opening new stores in Southampton and Stoke this week.

Asda Express stores carry over 3,000 branded and own-label products, as well as additional services such as Costa Coffee machines, ATMs, Amazon collections and returns hubs, and on-demand delivery options through Uber Eats, Just Eat and Deliveroo.

All the new stores will also be equipped with electronic shelf edge labels from day one.

Joseph Sutton, vice president Asda Express, foodservice and fuel, said: “We’re thrilled to be opening nine new Express stores this week, including seven in London – an area where we have traditionally had less of a presence in convenience.

“These openings are a key part of our strategy to bring Asda’s unbeatable value to more urban areas and residential communities across the UK. We know customers have looked forward to these stores opening for a long time, and we’re delighted to welcome them in and offer outstanding value across their favourite products.”

The retailer said it has plans to open a further 10 Express c-stores before the end of the year, and has a “strong pipeline” of further openings in 2026.
