Amazon and Iceland have signed a deal for the ecommerce giant to sell the supermarket’s food on its website.

Amazon Prime customers will be able to buy Iceland products in a trial initially available only in some areas of Greater Manchester.

The initiative will be rolled out across further locations in the coming months.

The range of Iceland products available will include its own-brand fresh and frozen items, as well as products from Greggs, Heinz and other big brands.

Iceland follows fellow grocers Morrisons and the Co-op in making its products available through Amazon.

Amazon UK country manager John Boumphrey said: “Our new partnership with Iceland offers customers an even bigger selection of great value groceries on Amazon, with lots of delivery options available for Prime members.”

Iceland chief customer and digital officer David Devany said: “We’re committed to helping our customers shop the way they want and access our great value products whenever they need them most.

“Partnering with Amazon is yet another way that Iceland customers can get their hands on our exclusive brands and freezer favourites.

“This is also an exciting opportunity for us to introduce new shoppers to the benefits of shopping with Iceland.”

The agreement follows news from Amazon this week that it had opened a new Amazon Fresh store in London’s Liverpool Street.
