Aldi is creating 1,700 new UK jobs

Aldi said the recruitment drive will include both full-time and part-time roles across its regional warehouses, with salaries of up to £53,000 a year, according to The Times.

The announcement comes as the grocer plans to open an average of one new store a week between now and Christmas across the UK.

The news also builds on the retailer’s statement last month confirming plans to fill 800 new roles before Christmas this year.

Aldi UK recruitment director Kelly Stokes said: “As we continue to grow and attract new shoppers, we need even more amazing colleagues at our distribution sites to make everything possible.

“As well as healthcare and lifestyle perks, being a part of the Aldi team means a great working environment. With it being an exciting time for the business, there are also real opportunities to progress.”

Aldi announced a pay rise for shopworkers in March this year, with 28,000 store staff benefiting from the increase, taking the discounter’s investment in pay over the previous 12 months to more than £100m.

Aldi also cut the price of more than 30 of its household grocery items earlier this month in a bid to continue offering customers value for money amid the cost-of-living crisis.
