Fopp centralises buying to boost its sales growth

Music retailer Fopp has moved to central buying in an effort to improve stock management and continue sales growth.

The 14-store retailer formerly had buying managers for each outlet, but has decided to run the process centrally through four people.

Managing director Peter Ellen said: 'This will enable us to manage the range better.'

Fopp has identified more than 30 locations where it wants stores and plans to open at least five next year.

For the six months to May 31, Fopp posted a rise in pre-tax profit of 114 per cent to£540,000.
