John Lewis and Topshop have struck a deal to sell the famous fashion brand’s product in stores and online.
Topshop will make its debut in 32 John Lewis department stores in February next year, marking a return to the high street nationwide for one of the UK’s most iconic fashion names. Sister brand Topman will go into six John Lewis branches.
Topshop styles will also be sold on the John Lewis website as part of the wholesale arrangement.
John Lewis managing director Peter Ruis said: “Bringing Topshop and Topman back to high streets across the UK is a landmark moment, and we are thrilled to be their only nationwide partner.
“It’s the ultimate proof of our strategy – offering the most-loved brands alongside the unwavering trust of our brand promise. I grew up with these incredible brands. They have defined our high streets, bringing edge and accessibility with an iconic British lens.”
Topshop managing director Michelle Wilson said: “We’re excited to partner with John Lewis, a trusted name in British retail, to bring Topshop and Topman to high streets across the country.
“This partnership is a key step in our mission to bring the best of fashion to everyone, engaging with shoppers in real life and delivering the style and quality they expect from our brands.”
Fomerly part of tycoon Sir Philip Green’s Arcadia fashion empire until its administration in 2020, Topshop is now owned by Bestseller holding company Heartland and online apparel specialist Asos. Following a high-profile relaunch, Topshop made a return to bricks-and-mortar retail last month with an opening in London department store Liberty.
The news came as John Lewis also prepared to launch a Never Knowingly Undersold marketing campaign tomorrow.
