Charles Tyrwhitt has poached Adidas executive Michael Stanier to take the reins as its new boss.

Stanier replaces former chef executive David Boynton, who left the formal menswear business last December to take the top job at The Body Shop.

According to Drapers, Stanier will officially take up the role on March 5.

Stanier joined Adidas back in May 2009, initially as chief retail officer.

He became chief sales officer in early 2011 and was made senior vice-president three and a half years later.

Prior to his time with the global sports brand, Stanier spent two years at Gap, serving some of that time as managing director of its UK retail and European franchise operations.

Stanier has also spent time with Timberland and Marks & Spencer, where he was head of outlets and held a number of roles in its international division.

Charles Tyrwhitt has been without a boss since Boynton quit to join The Body Shop last year.

Boynton succeeded Jeremy Schwartz, who departed The Body Shop shortly after it was acquired by Brazilian cosmetics giant Natura Group.
