John Lewis’ Black Friday event started today and will run throughout this month, building up to Black Friday which falls on November 24.

The retailer said that its research showed customers ”start gearing up for Christmas from early November” and “start shopping in earnest” on November 10.

John Lewis is cutting prices for the Black Friday event on items ranging from Apple products and TVs to air fryers and fragrances.

John Lewis interim executive director Naomi Simcock said: “John Lewis is rewriting the Black Friday rulebook. The idea of it being a one-weekend event is a thing of the past and we’re instead helping our customers with incredible discounts on our range of quality brands all month long.

“It’s a win-win for customers, who we know are buying for Christmas earlier than ever. It means not only can they tick off their shopping list early, but they can also spread out the cost of Christmas.”

John Lewis has extended the returns period so that the Black Friday event is covered. Shoppers buying between now and December 24 will be able to exchange or return goods until January 23.
