Electricals retailer smoothes the way for 2012 digital TV switch
Comet has today launched a campaign to coax customers into switching to digital TV, giving away a free set-top box to every shopper who buys an analogue TV. The Government has set a deadline of 2012 for the UK to switch to digital broadcasting. However, the change is expected to begin in earnest by 2008.

Comet is also launching a number of initiatives to help customers prepare for the switch, including labelling digital-friendly products in stores. Comet marketing manager for home entertainment Liz Rhodes said: 'We see ourselves in a unique position to help educate consumers on the practicalities of what they need to do to continue watching their favourite programmes after the switch is completed.'
