Claire’s has reported an improvement in the quality of job applications since the accessories retailer launched its own recruitment web site three months ago.

The site, which was developed by Claire’s recruitment advertising agency ThirtyThree, has received nearly 700 applications for head office and store management roles since its launch.

To ensure that candidates only apply for relevant roles, they are questioned about their previous experience and strengths.

Claire’s human resources director Nicki Crossland said: “There has been a noticeable decrease in poorly targeted applications in the past few weeks. The structured process is without a doubt attracting applicants of a higher calibre.”

She added that the launch of the site had improved productivity in the retailer’s recruitment team. “It has streamlined our recruitment process – we can see the number of views and applications per role at the touch of a button. This can only help with targeting and assessment,” she said.
