Kingfisher’s home improvement chain Castorama has opened its first eco store in France. The 150,700 sq ft store opened in Cormeilles-en-Parisis, near Paris.

It has several environmentally friendly features including a geothermal heating and cooling system, solar panels, low-energy neon lighting and a high-performance insulation system. It will also use recycled plastic carrier bags made of potato starch.

Castorama has 100 stores in France and the eco store will be a prototype for future shops in the country. It also plans to incorporate the new insulation and lighting system into its existing store portfolio.
