Woolworths taps into ringtone fad with top 10 chart

Woolworths has introduced a top 10 ringtones chart in stores, as it seeks to capitalise on the musical mobile trend.

The variety store group will display the chart next to its CD singles chart and and will offer ringtones for the top 10 CD singles. It is believed to be the first retailer to do so.

Woolworths head buyer, telecoms, Rob Cooke said: 'In offering this ringtones chart service, Woolworths is once again innovating in the marketplace and cementing our lead in this exciting sector.'

Woolworths has appointed mobile entertainment specialist Eposs to compile the weekly chart.

The ringtones market is now thought to be bigger than the singles market.
