Black Friday is just a week away but already the battle for sales is raging online. 

Argos kicked off its 13-day event today, while Amazon started deals on Monday. 

But as another busy week draws to a close, retailer across size and channel are looking ahead to this time next week, when Black Friday bargain hunting will be in full swing. 

Gone are the days of shoppers swarming through the automatic doors of Asda and having punch-ups in front of the TVs.

This year, retailers are betting big on consumers cashing in on Black Friday by using their smartphones, tablets and computers to bag bargains. 

We spoke to etail expert PCA Predict’s chief executive, Jamie Turner, about what we can expect from the US retail export next week in our weekly video round-up.

Meanwhile, with an etail phenomenon on the horizon, online giant eBay revealed UK vice president Tanya Lawler has left the online marketplace after four years at the helm.

And Gap’s woes continued as the US fashion retailer reported an 18% drop in group profits, marking its seventh consecutive quarter of decline.
