Grocery giant defends its Pay as You Talk mobile phone offer
Tesco has returned fire on mobile phone retailer M-Viron, after its call for the supermarket to keep to what it knows. The 16-strong phone chain started bundling cans of beans in with phone upgrades in protest against what it saw as Tesco's lack of after-sales service for its Pay as You Talk customers.

A spokeswoman for Tesco said: 'Customers vote with their feet. There are more people going for all our telecoms services, not just mobile. We are offering value to people, but also simplicity - that's our selling point. However, we also think it is good for retailers to diversify, so we welcome [M-Viron] to the business [of selling beans].'
