Largest share of sales from US visitors
UK retail sales to foreign visitors continued to rise in June, according to the Global Refund Monthly Index. Tax-free shopping sales rose by 14 per cent and the number of transactions increased by 3 per cent compared with June last year. This season's Sales are thought to have been partly behind the increases.

The US surpassed the Middle East in terms of sales and number of transactions for the first time this year. The US represents the largest share of total sales, with a 16 per cent share.

Transactions by visitors from China showed the biggest increase, rising by 33 per cent, followed closely by India with 32 per cent and Russia with 30 per cent.

Japan continues to show the largest decrease, with the number of transactions down by 15 per cent. The Global Refund Index said this trend is not expected to change over the coming months.
