TGJones has started its Christmas recruitment by offering 115 seasonal jobs across its UK stores.

The high street chain formerly known as WHSmith has over 450 stores across the country and is hiring extra staff to deliver “the best service” throughout the festive season.

Temporary seasonal sales assistant roles are now available in stores to support existing team members in the run-up to Christmas, helping to serve customers, restock shelves and enhance product displays.

The new recruits will start towards the end of November and work until January 10 on fixed-term contracts.

The chain is the latest retailer to announce the hiring of extra staff during the festive season, following John Lewis, Superdrug, Rituals, Amazon, Tesco and Aldi.

This will be the first time the retailer has traded as TGJones over Christmas, after Modella Capital bought WHSmith’s high street chain for £76m in March.

TGJones people director Alana Sloan said: “We’re excited about welcoming an additional 115 colleagues to our team ahead of the festive period. Previous experience is helpful, but not essential.

“What we’re really looking for is people with enthusiasm and who are keen to deliver a great Christmas experience for our customers.”
