Specsavers is set to expand further into the Canadian market by opening 111 new locations within Loblaw Companies starting in September. Loblaw Companies is the largest retailer in Canada, operating 22 local and regional supermarket chains.

The British eye care brand will replace the existing Theodore & Pringle optical brand and will provide customers with convenient in-store access to advanced eye care services such as optical coherence tomography (OCT) scans.
The new stores will open in select Loblaw grocery stores, including Loblaws, Real Canadian Superstore and Zehrs.
Specsavers co-founder Doug Perkins said: “This move into Loblaw grocery stores is a proud moment for us – not just because of the scale, but because it’s another step towards delivering accessible, expert eye care in the heart of the community.”
“When we started Specsavers more than 40 years ago from a table tennis table at home in Guernsey, we never imagined that one day we’d be employing over 45,000 people in 11 countries and helping 48 million customers to see and hear more clearly.”
This expansion will see the optical and audiology retailer open in five new Canadian provinces and one territory, including: New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, Saskatchewan and the Yukon territory, following Specsavers’ ongoing marketing strategy to increase the accessibility of eye care.
Loblaw Companies head of optical Irene Doody said: “Specsavers reputation for accessible eye care aligns perfectly with our own purpose – to help Canadians live life well.”
“Specsavers will provide a seamless transition for our optical customers, while introducing them to a trusted global leader in eye care.”
