Twenty-five leading retailers on the blueprint to solve the industry’s property crisis
Leading retailers, including Primark, B&M, Iceland and Frasers Group, have spoken to Retail Week for a far-reaching report into the state of UK retail property and the need for reform.
We extensively interviewed leaders from 25 retail businesses to find out what their relationships with landlords are like, how they would like to see business rates reformed and what role the store plays in their channel mix.
The groundbreaking report Rents, Rates, Reform reveals that:
- 44% of retailers will have the same number of stores in five years’ time
- 28% will open more, despite leaders expecting ecommerce to grow to 40% of their total sales in five years
- 40% are opening stores on local high streets – the most popular location – to reach remote workers
