Moss hiring creates rift with Sir Philip
Topshop has confirmed a rift at the top of the business between billionaire boss Sir Philip Green and one of his key lieutenants, Jane Shepherdson, over the recent deal to hire model Kate Moss as a designer.

Reports this morning suggested that Shepherdson - who has been widely credited with transforming the fortunes of the Arcadia-owned business - had 'threatened to quit', after not being properly consulted on the decision to hire Moss.

A spokeswoman said: 'PG [Sir Philip] and Jane are in talks now. Nothing has been finalised yet.'

She was unable to confirm whether Shepherdson was leaving the business, where she has worked since the 1980s and steered towards a£102 million profit in the 12 months to August last year.
