Brewer Young & Co is working up plans for a retail-led redevelopment of its 5.5 acre (2.2 ha) brewery site at Wandsworth, southwest London.
The site is opposite Southside, the revamped former Wandsworth Arndale Centre, and last year Wandsworth Local Plan Review first raised the issue of alternative land uses for the Ram Brewery site.
Meanwhile, London Mayor Ken Livingstone has identified Wandsworth town centre as a key area for regeneration in his Draft London Plan.
Young's said it would conduct a feasibility study with the borough council, which could take up to two years, before making any firm decision to vacate the site.
Wandsworth Challenge Partnership chairman David Rosemont welcomed the proposal, citing it as an opportunity to improve connections between the town centre and the new riverside quarter.
