The London Borough of Redbridge has shortlisted three developers for a new mixed-use development in Ilford, East London, that could include 150,700 sq ft (14,000 sq m) of retail space.
A consortium of Barratt and Thornfield, Capital & Counties and Wilson Bowden Developments has been asked to prepare detailed proposals for a council-owned site to the rear of Ilford Town Hall.
The site is close to High Road and the town's prime retail pitch, and is allocated for a mixed use development in the Local Plan. It could accommodate 150,000 sq ft (14,000 sq m) of retail space and between 350 and 450 residential units around a new public open space. The council aims to select its preferred development partner for the site before the end of this year.
