Retail Property - First factory outlet for London

London is to get its first factory outlet mall as part of Quintain Estates & Development's massive Wembley regeneration project.

Quintain owns 56 acres of land surrounding the new national stadium.

The land has been earmarked as a key regeneration opportunity in Mayor Ken Livingstone's London Plan. Quintain has applied for planning permission for 5,000,000 sq ft (464,500 sq m) of mixed-use space on 42 acres of its land.

The master plan, designed by Richard Rogers Partnership, envisages 3,727 new homes being built, with 40 per cent allocated for affordable housing.

The master plan also includes a 153,000 sq ft (14,200 sq m) designer outlet mall and 86,000 sq ft (7,990 sq m) of mainstream retailing space, plus 307,000 sq ft (28,520 sq m) of leisure facilities, which will include a new cinema.

Quintain property director Nick Shattock said: 'Our plans should transform the local area and we believe the regeneration project will make Wembley the capital of northwest London.

'The project will provide a dramatically improved experience for the millions of visitors to the national stadium and to both our existing and future businesses on the London site, which include Wembley Arena - Europe's most successful arena.'
