Retail Property - Chester set to extend Vicarage Field in Barking

Chester Properties has unveiled plans for a 30,000 sq ft (2,785 sq m) extension to its Vicarage Field shopping centre in Barking, east London.

The planning application envisages a two-storey extension to be built on part of the centre's surface car park. It will provide 13,500 sq ft (1,255 sq m) at ground level, capable of division into one, two or three retail units.

The 16,500 sq ft (1,535 sq m) at first floor level will link into the existing centre's redundant food court to create a 16,000 sq ft (1,485 sq m) health & fitness club and a 14,000 sq ft (1,300 sq m) retail unit.

Opened in 1990, the 144,000 sq ft (13,380 sq m) two-level Vicarage Field the only covered shopping centre in Barking.

Capital Retail and Churston Heard are joint letting agents for the new units.
