Retail Property - Academy Land plans revamp of Hounds Hill

Academy Land has submitted a planning application for a£30 million redevelopment of Blackpool's Hounds Hill Shopping Centre.

A proposed a 200,000 sq ft (18,580 sq m) extension to Hounds Hill would be anchored by a 95,000 sq ft (8,800 sq m) Debenhams. Plans also include extending an existing multi-storey car park, the creation of 11 units and remodelling smaller stores to create 18 larger units.

Blackpool's town centre manager Nigel Hanson said the redevelopment of Hounds Hill would be a catalyst for the town's retail revival. 'This is an important step towards establishing Blackpool as a highly sought-after retail destination,' he said.

Architect Leslie Jones has designed the scheme. Letting agents are Churston Heard and Hammond Phillips.
