Property News - Belfast revamp plans unveiled

A proposed regeneration framework for Belfast city centre, drawn up by property consultant GVA Grimley, has been issued for consultation.

Commissioned by Northern Ireland's Department for Social Development, the Belfast city centre regeneration framework sets out a 15-year plan of phased development that will reposition Belfast as a leading European city.

Minister with responsibility for social development John Spellar said: 'The review was commissioned to take an informed look at the area and to propose an integrated and sustainable framework for the medium- to long-term regeneration of the heart of Belfast.'

The core principle is to regenerate the city centre from its heart outwards.

Retail-led development is proposed as a guiding theme of the Belfast regeneration strategy, alongside office, tourism, leisure and the public realm.
