National Geographic opens its first store worldwide on Regent Street this Friday (November 14, 2008).

The three-floor, 1,800 sq m shop is intended to provide a retail presence which will impart the travel brand’s flavour as found in its magazine and cable tv channel. Among a host of novel features, pride of place goes to the full-size red, metal shipping-crate in the basement, which has a glass-sided room inserted into it. In this, shoppers can test-drive cold weather garments under refrigerated conditions, imitating the great and chilly outdoors.
