More than 15 shopping centres could offer child-safe zones by Christmas

More than 15 shopping centres could offer child-safe zones by Christmas, following the success of a service launched in May and backed by Sally Gunnell. The scheme enables the immediate circulation of lost children's photos to security guards' phones. Families are invited to register their children's details online, including contact phone numbers, a passport-style photo, description and any medical information. The company responsible, Community Alert, insists details will be stored securely on a server in a military installation to prevent potential abuse.Shoppers can have pictures taken free and uploaded at Vodafone stores.
