UK-based health and nutrition brand Protein Works has officially opened its new headquarters in Speke, Liverpool.

PWCampus

The new Protein Works Campus in Speke.

The self-funded £10m campus boasts 100,000 sq ft of space to house production, fulfilment, marketing and technology all under one roof, after previously operating from multiple sites in Runcorn.

Protein Works has enjoyed over a decade of uninterrupted financial growth, with a 40% increase in turnover bringing record profits in 2024.

Protein Works chief executive Laura Keir said: “This is more than just a building. It’s a symbol of how far we’ve come, and where we’re going next.”

“We’re proud to be able to create best-in-class jobs and contribute to the economic growth of the Northwest. With everything under one roof, we can operate smarter, move faster and innovate more boldly than ever before.”

YFM Equity Partners backed the management buyout of Protein Works in 2019.

Partner of the firm Nicola McQuaid added: “Over the past five years, the team has consistently delivered, with revenues surpassing £50m and EBITDA doubling year on year. That exceptional performance has enabled the company to self-fund this major move, cementing its position in the fast-growing health and wellness market and setting the stage for future success.”

As part of the move, head of engineering and health and safety Joseph Hook was promoted to chief operating officer after overseeing the operational transition to the new Campus.

The company seeks to turn over £100m in the future, as well as increasing staff by 20% as it recently celebrated selling its 400 millionth protein shake.
