Australian lifestyle retailer Harvey Norman is opening its fourth store in the UK along with a new location for its UK headquarters.

The new store and headquarters will be in the Gracechurch Centre, Royal Sutton Coldfield, in the West Midlands, and is set to create 100 jobs across sales, marketing, online, finance, procurement, operations, warehousing, administration and management, as well as several apprenticeship opportunities.

The second West Midlands location follows the launch of Harvey Norman’s flagship store at Merry Hill Shopping Centre in October. It also has two stores in Northern Ireland.

The flagship store formed the first part of planned investments across the West Midlands to support its wider UK and global rollout.

The retailer is in “advanced negotiations” with a number of other investment opportunities across the West Midlands which is forecast to create an additional 200 jobs.

Harvey Norman chief executive Katie Page said: â€œThe West Midlands’ high-grade retail space and exceptional connectivity are two key reasons why we’ve chosen Sutton Coldfield as the home of our new UK headquarters and to launch our next store here.

“Gracechurch will provide an excellent hub for our growing UK team and I look forward to returning to the region soon as we progress our expansion plans.”

The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is backing plans to update the 250,000 sq ft Gracechurch shopping centre through a multimillion-pound investment, including new homes, leisure, retail, commercial and other means.
