Waitrose has announced it is set to open its first new full-line supermarket in seven years in North Bristol in 2027.

The new 30,000 sq ft supermarket will create 150 new jobs when it opens and will be built in Brabazon in the north of the city ā one of the āmost sustainable examples of urban regeneration in the UKā.
The upmarket food retailer announced it had struck a multi-million pound deal for the new store with YTL Developments.
The opening of the new supermarket in 2027 will help Waitrose in ābroadening its reach across the UKā and will follow on from the imminent opening of the retailerās new convenience store in Bristol.
It has also recently expanded and refurbished several existing stores in Cambridgeshire and Rotherham and added a new c-store in West Sussex.
The retailer aims to refurbish a further 20 stores this year, as it plans to invest £1bn into its store estate over the next three years.
Waitrose managing director James Bailey said: āWe are moving up a gear in store investment as we open in new locations and modernise our existing estate to bring the quality, service and value that customers love about Waitrose closer to more people.
āBrabazon is one of the most exciting new city districts in the UK, driving the growth of one of the UKās most vibrant and successful regional economies. Partnering with YTL Developments at Brabazon underpins our ambition and the opportunity we believe we have to grow our reach.ā
