Today Development Partners, the newly launched ecommerce platform which partnered with Waitrose last week, has poached a senior staff member from technology rival Ocado.

Jonathan Faiman, the co-founder of Ocado, has managed to lure Jon Hillary away from the business to his new technology venture Today Development Partners, according to the Evening Standard.

Hillary will join Waitrose’s new ecommerce partner as chief operating officer, having worked for Ocado for 18 years.

He was responsible for helping develop Ocado’s logistics and automation processes as head of development and engineering, as well as designing and building its customer fulfilment centres.

The news comes a week after Waitrose unveiled that it had struck a deal with TDP to succeed its previous partnership with Ocado, as well as plans to treble the size of its online offering to ÂŁ1bn over the next three years.

Faiman said he was “more excited” about the new venture than “anything I’ve done in my career” and said TDP, in conjunction with Waitrose.com, would “deliver the world’s best digital home delivery service”.

TDP confirmed Hillary’s appointment, but declined to comment further.

Waitrose also announced today that it would be opening a new CFC in Enfield, North London by spring 2020. The grocer said the new site would create “hundreds of jobs”.
