The discount supermarket chain announced two updates on its state-of-the-art warehouse locations in London and Leeds today, with a significant investment into both sites to support further growth across the UK.

Lidl has now completed its two-stage extension at its Belvedere site in London, investing £285m into the restructuring of the original building as well as a second warehouse, which has tripled their total capacity to 800,000 sq ft.
Once fully operational, the Belvedere site will serve 120 locations, from its recently opened store in Brentford down to Dorking, as well as future stores.
This precedes the construction of their 38-acre site in Gildersome, Leeds, which started last month and totalled a further £150m in investment.
These developments will lead to the creation of over 500 new jobs, with 120 new positions in London and 400 in Leeds.
Lidl chief real estate officer Richard Taylor said: “We’re proud to play our role in driving economic growth, while continuing to establish an infrastructure that delivers sustainable growth for our ambitious expansion plans.”
“These investments are not just about logistics. They also represent an investment in our mission to make good food accessible to households across the country.”
Chancellor Rachel Reeves said: “This investment is a strong vote of confidence in the UK economy, and Lidl’s commitment to new warehouse facilities in London and Leeds will unlock hundreds of new jobs and strengthen supply chains.”
“Through our Plan for Change, we’re backing business and working in partnership to deliver growth and opportunity in communities across the country.”
Lidl are ongoing in their search for new warehouses in the south of England, as their ambition to scale further across the UK continues to grow.
