The Co-op has started offering rewards for its members and their communities through its online grocery partnership with Uber Eats.

Customers who are members of the Co-op will be able to earn rewards and help their community by adding their Co-op membership number to the Uber Eats app at checkout.

When purchasing selected Co-op groceries, members earn rewards of 2p in every pound spent on own-brand products for themselves and for communities, with the grocer giving 2p in every pound to support local causes in the UK.

Members can choose or change the cause they support through the Co-op membership app.

The rewards partnership is a first for Uber Eats in the UK and will be available from over 1,000 Co-op stores this month. Groceries are picked fresh in the local store and delivered in as little as 30 minutes.

Co-op ecommerce director Chris Conway said: “We are committed to developing fast and flexible options online to serve shoppers quickly, easily and conveniently. Our ambition to grow our membership base by one million over the next five years is supported by our compelling member benefits programme. Our members lie at the very heart of the Co-op and by building on our successful partnership with Uber Eats, we are now able to create additional value for our members and for local communities.”

Uber Eats UK head of commerce Alex Troughton added: “It’s great to be able to build on our successful partnership with Co-op, and join forces to allow its members to earn rewards and support local community causes and organisations when they use Uber Eats. This is all about using our unique technology to deliver exactly what people want, when they want it and enable them to help out community causes that matter to them.”
