Aldi has extended its trial with Deliveroo into London, less than a month after launching the pilot in the Midlands.

The discounter has started offering the on-demand grocery delivery service from its Aldi Local store in Camden.

Customers living within two miles of the store, including those in West Hempstead, Belsize Park and Mayfair, will now have access to the rapid delivery option.

Shoppers can order from a range of 200 Aldi products through the Deliveroo app for home delivery in as little as 30 minutes.

The expansion of the tie-up into the capital city comes after what Aldi called a “successful start” to the partnership at eight stores across the Midlands.

Aldi aims to roll the service out to even more stores across the UK before the end of the year as it seeks to take a slice of the online grocery market.

The discounter has lost market share, according to the latest Kantar data, during coronavirus as shoppers turn to ecommerce and convenience stores during the lockdown.

Aldi communications director Richard Thornton said: “In the three weeks since we launched our partnership with Deliveroo, feedback from customers has been very positive.

“Extending that partnership to around 100,000 people living near our Camden store will make it even easier for them to access great-quality, affordable food at Aldi’s unbeatable prices.”
