Topps Tiles like-for-like sales grew 2.2% in the 13 weeks to January 2.

The tiles retailer said it had experienced some disruption during December’s cold snap but had “responded well”.

Total sales grew 1.8% across Topps Tiles’ 312 stores in the trading period. The retailer is currently undergoing a “prudent expansion” of its estate and aims to open about 10 new stores during the financial year which ends October 2011.

Non-executive chairman of the tile specialist Barry Bester said he was “particularly satisfied” with the performance given the extreme weather.
