Final Sanity shops shut as buyers sought

Administrator BDO Stoy Hayward has closed 19 Our Price stores - the final batch still trading at the 106-strong chain - and is still seeking buyers for parcels of stores.

It said that the closure of the outlets - trading under the retailer's Sanity fascia - meant that a further 80 staff have been made redundant.

Earlier this year, 330 Our Price staff lost their jobs when the greater part of the store closure programme took place.

A spokeswoman for BDO Stoy Hayward said: 'These properties are still in the process of being assigned to other retailers.'

The Sanity shops have been around the block more times than Kat Slater from EastEnders.

Virgin owned them when it had the Our Price name, then sold them to Australian retailer Brazin.

The latter passed them on to the last owner, Primemist, which struggled to get credit and stock from suppliers.
