Athleisurewear brand Tala has confirmed the departure of chief executive Morgan Fowles, weeks after it reported widening losses.

Fowles joined the retailer in 2021 after stints with menswear brands Spoke and Thomas Pink, with Tala filing the terminations of her directorships on Companies House on January 13.

In a statement attributed to its “leadership team”, Tala said: “We can confirm that Morgan is no longer employed by Tala. The business is currently experiencing a record-breaking revenue year, whilst remaining profitable and outperforming industry benchmarks for growth, alongside opening two new Central London Tala stores.”

Losses at Tala increased to £2.5m last year, deepening from £923,000 the previous year, after its planned expansion into the United States hit the skids due to, amongst other macro-economic factors, President Donald Trump’s tariffs regime.

The athleisure brand sold £19.8m in gym leggings and tops around the world in the 12-months to March 2025 – up 18%. Of that, £16.5m of sales were generated in the UK, although sales of £1.5m in the US were called “below budget”.

The news comes after the retailer opened two physical stores in the UK last year, with one on Carnaby Street in central London and the other in the Westfield shopping centre in west London.
