Department store business John Lewis has detailed shops that will benefit from a £50m injection as part of its ongoing investment programme.
John Lewis branches in Cambridge, Glasgow, Leicester, Liverpool, and Reading will be the focus of the investment round, as the retailer seeks ultimately to “elevate” all 36 shops to make them “destinations for customers to discover, explore, and enjoy”.
The 28,000 sq m Glasgow store will receive approximately £20m – John Lewis’ “largest single-store investment in recent years”. It will trade throughout the refurbishment, which is expected to be completed in spring 2027.
The upgrades are part of an £800m transformation programme designed to provide an enhanced customer experience through distinguishing characteristics such as service, an improved hospitality offer, and a “seamless” omnichannel proposition. Stores already refurbished “have consistently achieved sales growth following investment”, the retailer said, as well as improved customer satisfaction.
