John Lewis is planning a major refurbishment of its Glasgow flagship as part of the next phase of its £800m store upgrade programme, Retail Week can reveal.

Works on the Buchanan Galleries store are understood to begin over the summer and will continue through to 2027.
The refurbishment will span every area of the store, making it the largest renewal project within the John Lewis portfolio.
It forms part of John Lewis’ multi-year £800m investment into upgrading the store estate and elevating the shopping experience across its portfolio.
The retailer is gearing up to unveil its newly revamped Solihull store in the coming weeks. It follows the launch of its Bluewater store in November last year, which saw £10m spent on transforming the shop floor.
John Lewis announced last week that it was withdrawing from its build-to-rent property business under a renewed retail focus led by chair Jason Tarry.
