John Lewis Partnership, the owner of the Waitrose grocery business as well as the eponymous department store group, has unveiled a tech talent recruitment drive.
The partnership aims to hire for 150 roles as it ramps up digital capabilities.
The retailer is seeking engineers âto bring innovation and expertise across a range of technologiesâ including software, cloud platform, native app, data and delivery.
The hiring spree, following the shift to online and digital options by consumers during the pandemic, mirrors those underway at other retailers reinventing themselves such as Marks & Spencer.
The partnershipâs John Lewis and Waitrose divisions between them generate around 55 million visits per month. Online accounts for around 70% of John Lewisâ sales and 20% of Waitroseâs.
John Lewis Partnership head of engineering Sandra Christie said: âWe have an industry-leading team driving the digital growth of our two iconic brands. Itâs our partners who make the difference and weâre really excited to be making this significant investment in growing our engineering talent.â
