Department store business John Lewis has struck a partnership with Uber Eats to pilot rapid delivery of some products.

John Lewis customers will be able to use the service to order nursery, premium beauty and gift lines, which they may need at the last minute.
The pilot will be available to John Lewis customers within an 8km radius of the retailer’s branches in Leeds and Stratford, London. They will have a choice of 150 products through the Uber Eats app – adhering to John Lewis’ ‘Never Knowingly Undersold’ price promise – and purchases will be delivered within an hour.
The retailer anticipates that the service will appeal to, for instance, mothers who may need an emergency baby bottle or people buying last-minute presents.
John Lewis category lead Stella Winklewska said: “Our pilot will make it easier than ever for customers to access the John Lewis products they love, delivered to their location within the hour. It’s an exciting strategic step to reach a new audience, and helps ensure that we’re there for our customers when they really need us, however they choose to shop with us.”
This pilot will run until early September, providing insights on demand, purchasing behaviour and logistics before a decision is made about a wider roll-out.
