Countdown to Christmas: view from The Mall

Ilford shoppers are flocking to enjoy the experience of the magical Mall Christmas this year. Contrary to reports that the internet is taking a large slice of high street sales, we have been very busy in The Mall. Shoppers seem keen for the Christmas shopping experience provided by light displays, live choirs, carol singing and a magical grotto for the children. You can't help but get into the spirit of Christmas.

Retailers are responding to the competition of the web by going into Sale early. Wallis, Debenhams, Woolworths and HMV - among a host of others - are offering Christmas bargains. The shoppers are showing that the atmosphere and experience is a winner and are voting with their feet - footfall is up 9.2 per cent week on week in the run up to Christmas Day. What are they buying? Roboraptor, and Pixel Chix are both going fast.

Mall TV and our Christmas magazine are popular with the shoppers, highlighting offers and suggesting gifts. So, with about 80 per cent of our 81 retailers on Sale and a thoroughly festive atmosphere on offer, The Mall, Ilford, really is Christmas shopping as it should be this year.
