Planned US move creates director vacancy
Tesco commercial and trading director Richard Brasher is tipped to take over as marketing director following Tim Mason's move to the US.

Chief executive Sir Terry Leahy once held the marketing role, which many observers believe is a stepping stone to the post of chief executive.

Mason was appointed a fortnight ago to head the supermarket's£250 million convenience store venture on the US West Coast.

Tesco intends to open its first US store next year. Some analysts have so far given the enterprise a lukewarm reception and want more detail on the plan.
