Borders hunts for more concessions as space is freed

Bookseller Borders UK is hunting for more concessionaires following a drive to increase space available in-store.

Borders already has Paperchase and Starbucks concessions, and managing director Philip Downer believes there is scope for more.

He said: 'A couple of the new stores, such as Leicester, have fittings with a smaller footprint. We're looking at what we can do to achieve more in each store.'

However, Downer would not give an indication of the type of concessionaires being sought.

Borders will open three more shops early next year, and aims to grow the 17-store chain to at least 23 by the end of next year.
