Poundland has kicked off a substantial clearance Sale across its store estate as it gets ready for its Pep&Co relaunch.

The discount chain is offering up to 50% off across men’s, women’s and kids clothing in all its 450-plus stores.

It comes as the retailer has been introducing its new Pep&Co apparel ranges, made by a dedicated in-house team, in recent weeks to replace the previous collection.

Poundland phased out its own-brand clothing and general merchandise range in the summer of 2023, in exchange for products sourced by its then owner Pepco that were available across Europe.

Almost immediately, the discount chain saw a slowdown in sales as it struggled to shift the new ranges and lost customers to rivals. Following several consecutive quarters of steep losses, Pepco put the business up for sale in March last year.

The retailer was sold to Gordon Brothers in June for £1, which immediately kicked off a restructuring programme of its store estate and range review.

Poundland said 90% of the new Pep&Co range is priced below £10, with 45% below £5. The apparel line also includes a greater depth of womenswear and the reintroduction of a bigger range of sizes.

The retailer brought back former Pep&Co clothing boss Maria Epaminondas last September to head up the buying team alongside former colleagues Antonia Quinn and Amy Beaumont and new buyers Lesley Robinson and Daina Oosterwyk.
