Trinity Leeds, the UK’s only major shopping centre to open this year, has attracted 2.7 million shoppers in its first month of business.

Alison Niven, retail operations director for owner Land Securities, told The Sunday Express that it expects 22 million people to come through its doors in its first year.

Trinity Leeds attracted 132,000 shoppers on its opening day in March, and 1 million visitors in its first 10 days of business.

Niven said: “Footfall has been ahead of expectations. Leeds itself has seen a footfall increase of 20 per cent week on week since we opened. Retailers opening in the coming months include Victoria’s Secret, Primark and Starbucks, and they will give us an extra mini-boost.”

Retailers including Hollister, Apple and Urban Outfitters have opened in the 1 million sq ft shopping centre.
