Westfield owner Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield is poised to open the doors to a new retail development inside the historic Allders department store in Croydon this week.

Allders Parade, which will offer a curated line-up of shops and food outlets, forms part of URW’s redevelopment programme of the town centre in South London.
The building has received a refurbished frontage and houses five retail units, ranging from 450 sq ft to 1,300 sq ft alongside two food and beverage outlets.
The first set of tenants include global lifestyle retailer Miniso, media provider Sky and women’s clothing brand Abaci. London-based florist Isle of Flowers and Meltin’ Memories – an ice cream shop that was once part of the original department store, will also open in the development.
Allders was founded in 1862 and closed in 2013 after it fell into administration, but the building remains an important part of Croydon’s heritage.
Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield strategic development director Adam Smith said: “The launch of Allders Parade is a fundamental step in the revitalisation and transformation of the town centre.
“We’re delighted to welcome these great brands this autumn, creating a new retail destination in one of the town’s most cherished landmarks. This is just the start of delivering on our vision for the town centre, as we look to create a more sustainable, connected and community-focused future for Croydon.”
Westfield took on the full redevelopment of Croydon’s two central shopping centres – The Whitgift Centre, and Centrale Mall in 2023 after it bought the remaining 50% stake from its joint venture partner Hammerson.
