Majestic Wine has debuted its refreshed branding at its newest store inside Beckenham’s iconic Chinese Garage.
The booze specialist described the London location, inside a listed pavilion built in 1928, as “one of the most eye-catching Majestic stores ever”.
The 4,120 sq ft shop features the retailer’s updated logo and a number of new features, including a fine wine fixture designed to better cater to its high-spending ‘VIP’ customers.
Majestic shoppers will also be able to click and collect their online orders from the store, while new local store vans will offer home deliveries fulfilled directly from the shop.
Although they are not open during the coronavirus pandemic, the store also hosts a new tasting counter – a feature of Majestic shops that its previous owners had started to scale back on.
US private equity firm Fortress purchased the business from Naked Wines last December in a £95m deal.
Since then, Majestic has set about refurbishing its store portfolio and ramping up its customer experience credentials amid a renewed focus on physical retail.
The new Beckenham store is the retailer’s 199th shop. Its 200th is set to open in Henley-on-Thames, Oxfordshire, next week.
Majestic chief executive John Colley said: “I’m delighted to be opening two new Majestic stores this month and I’m sure our customers – both new and existing – will enjoy the revamped Majestic experience.
“We strongly believe there’s a real role for bricks-and-mortar retail in this country, and I’m delighted that we’re able to still open stores and inspire new customers – even during such a difficult time.”
