Kim Kardashian’s shapewear brand is close to opening its first standalone store in London.

The reality star has plans to open Skims’ first freestanding stores across Europe within the next year and a half, with London at the top of the list.

In an interview with The Times, Skims co-founder Jens Grede said they would look to open in a high-traffic area like Bond Street or Regent Street.

The UK is Skims’ biggest market outside of the US, and other locations earmarked for store expansion include Paris, Milan and Berlin.

Grede said: “We’re really looking for exceptional locations. We’re pursuing a Nike strategy of having important stores in important cities and you can’t do too many too fast.”

Kardashian said: “The UK is a really important market for Skims. London is one of my favourite cities.”

She added: “We are close to securing a site in one of London’s most iconic shopping destinations, so I look forward to sharing more soon.”

Kardashian launched Skims in 2019, originally under the name Kimono, and it has since attracted more than $400m (£319m)  in funding.

The product range includes shapewear, dresses, bodysuits, pyjamas and swimwear, with the latter showcased in a pop-up in Selfridges this week.
